Although specialized data structures for intermodal transport services has not yet been introduced in the standards, there are two approaches observed in current implementations:

  • leveraging the flexibility of a generic Service to include descriptions / rich media / documents that grant customers passage on transport services other than flights (e.g. including QR codes in the rich media structure of a service for train tickets). This is typically combined with the flights to provide a wider net of origins and destinations which might normally not be accessible to the Airline via airport-only searches.

  • structuring a non-flight portion of the journey using the flight details is also possible, structuring a land/sea journey segment leveraging existing data elements typically reserved for flight details.

Airline

Demonstrate ability to include ancillary services for alternate forms of transportation in combination with a flight-related Offer (e.g. train, bus).
